Overview

An idea becomes clearer when you put it next to a real need. This program guides you through the first decisions behind a product: who it serves, what problem it addresses and what small version would let you test it.

Build enough to learn from users

You begin with an observed situation, define the need and choose the essential features of a prototype. The work connects design, implementation and user feedback. Those observations help you decide what to keep, change or investigate further.

Workshops and practice between sessions move the same project forward. You prepare a demonstration that explains the need, your decisions, the limitations of the result and the improvements you would make next.

Workshops that move your work forward

Workshops with Joseph Kanon take place fully online, live. The format includes a shared workshop, a scheduled review for each pod and practice between sessions. Two pods of up to three participants accommodate a maximum of six people.

This program is for students from Grade 11 or equivalent in any school system through university.

The program is in preparation. Session dates will be announced before enrollment opens.

What you’ll learn

  • Describe a need and identify the person it affects.
  • Keep a first prototype focused on essential features.
  • Gather feedback and turn it into improvements.
  • Present the product and explain its limitations and next steps.

Before you start

  • Basic computer use
  • A laptop and willingness to work between sessions
